Raiders Advance to Semi-Finals
The St. Albert Midget AAA Raiders are on their way to the semi-finals. The boys from St. Albert defeated Beardy's Blackhawks 6-5.
St. Albert opened the scoring with Kyler Hehn putting one past Beardy’s net minder Brett Lewchuk six minutes into the game. Hehn scored his second of the period to put St. Albert up 2-0. The second frame saw more from St. Albert with Luc Lalor and Joey Berget scoring just 35 seconds apart to put the Raiders up 4-0 three minutes into the second. Beardy’s would then make a change in goal as Lewchuk allowed 4 goals on just 13 shots. He was replaced by Regan Santoro.
The change seemed to spark the Blackhawks and with 5:01 left in the second, Brett Boehm scored on the power play to get Beardy’s on the board. Early in the 3rd, the Blackhawks scored their second goal against Wyatt Hoflin, who faced a total of 21 shots in the game. The Hawks added another for the Blackhawks short-handed to cut the lead to 4-3.
The Raiders Kevin Miller then tallied back-to-back goals making it 6-3 with 6:46 to play. Brett Boehm scored his second after he was hauled down on a breakaway and awarded a penalty shot with just under six minutes to play. Beardy's added a late goal but St. Albert held on to the 6-5 win.
The St. Albert Sports Raiders will play Russia Severstal/Locomotiv in the second semi final game of the day which takes place at 6pm this evening at Max Bell centre.

Rebels end Slash MAC Dream
The Regina Rebels defeated the St. Albert Slash 6-3 in semi-final action this afternoon at the MACs Midget Tournament.
Jessica Kampjes scored all 3 goals in a losing cause for the Slash. Ashley Morin and Deanna Morin each had 2 assists. The Rebels outshot the Slash 30-13.
The Slash finished the round robin part of the tournament with a record of 3 wins and 1 tie.

Raiders perfect at MACs
The St. Albert Midget AAA Raiders are a perfect 4-0 after round robin play at the MACs Midget Tournament in Calgary.
Yesterday, the Raiders defeated the Calgary Royals 3-2 and followed up today with a 10-1 thrashing of the West Valley Hawks.
Mitch McNamara tied the game against Calgary in the 3rd period and Kyler Hehn potted the winner with 4 seconds left to play. Hunter Mills had opened the scoring with Reid Duke drawing the assist. Kevin Miller, Ty Stanton and Kyler Hehn also recorded assists. Wyatt Hoflin stopped 27 shots to record his 3rd victory of the tournament. Mitch McNamara was named game star.
The St. Albert Sports Raiders scored 4 power play goals in the 1st period. The Raiders took an early lead two minutes into the game with a goal from assistant captain Connor Dea. Trace Elson then added an unassisted goal followed by Mitch McNamara’s goal putting St. Albert up 3-0 within the first few minutes. A goaltending change for the Hawks did not resolve the issue. An even strength goal by Kyler Hehn, his second point of the game, extended the Raiders lead. The 1st period ended with yet another power play goal from Ty Stanton resulting in a 5-0 Raiders. The Raiders potted three more goals in the second period including Mitch McNamara’s second of the game. Thomas Foster and Trace Elson counted 3rd period markers to round out the scoring. Landow Bow stopped 17 of 18 shots he faced.
Kyler Hehn was named game star, scoring 1 goal and adding 3 assists.
The St. Albert Raiders concluded their round robin portion of the tournament with a perfect 4-0-0 record.

Rockets Slashed
The St. Albert Kal-Tire Slash dominated the Thompson-Okanagan Rockets, defeating the BC squad 5-0 while outshooting them 43-10. The Slash’s captain Eliza Snider opened the scoring for the Slash, followed by three 2nd period goals by Jessica Kampjes, Kate Lumley and Charity Prince. Sabrina Flemming knotched the final goal in the 3rd period. Eliza Snider was named game star.
The Slash will carry a 2 win 1 tie record into tomorrow's game against the undefeated Calgary Flyers.

Raiders beat Contacts at MAC's
Thomas Foster scored both goals as the St. Albert Raiders defeated the Saskatoon Contacts 2-1 on day 2 of the MAC's Midget Tournament. With the victory, the Raiders moved to 2-0 in round robin play and first in Pool 3.
Kyler Hehn assisted on both goals while Mitch McNamara and Tyler Kunz each had an assist. Wyatt Hoflin turned aside 33 shots while the Raiders fired 24 at the Saskatoon goaltender.
