Important information concerning 1st year Bantam Players

Mar. 09, 2018

This is important information for all players that will be entering BANTAM hockey for the first time.

Hockey Alberta and Hockey Canada do not make the Checking Clinic a mandatory skills session for players entering into the Bantam level.

Due to this the SAMHA will no longer be providing the Checking Clinic prior to any Bantam tryouts as in previous years.

Checking Skills is a MANDATORY course requirement by Hockey Alberta and Hockey Canada for all Head Coaches in Atom and Pee Wee in order to qualify.

The SAMHA feels that the Head Coaches have been provided the proper tools at both levels that each player entering Bantam should be prepared for the checking level.

NOTE: If parents would like to have their player take a checking course prior to the tryouts that is entirely up to each family.
